Unemployment, financial strain and family stress – the real cost of recession for ordinary people

 

There would seem to be little doubt that even in situations where one member of a household had retained some level of employment, the financial strain was significant and this strain became progressively greater the more reliant the household was on social welfare payments, the Director of Sligo Social Services has said.
